GHMC promises to be vigilant to stop illegal constructions

GHMC Commissioner Somesh Kumar said that the High Court has not given any status quo in the N-Convention case. He said that the matter was still going on in the Court and the GHMC has been waiting for the Court orders to initiate further action.

The Commissioner said that from now onwards, the GHMC’s Irrigation and Revenue Departments would be vigilant to stop the unauthorized constructions and encroachments. He said that the GHMC would be providing additional staff along with a vehicle to inspect all the sites in their jurisdiction and to stop the unauthorized constructions duly issuing notices and seizing of the properties, wherever necessary.

Somesh Kumar said that TGSPDCL, HMWS&SB have started imposing three times penalty to the permissions which have already been granted without the occupancy certificates from today. The Electricity Department is also coordinating with the GHMC and they are also shutting down the power while demolishing the unauthorized structures. The Commissioner said that the joint team is working out to sort out the issue by judging the things to initiate action against the people who have constructed the houses unauthorisedly.

The Commissioner informed that every Town Planning Officer at the Circle level is maintaining an unauthorized construction register where the cases are being filed and action is being taken duly giving them notices and even demolition of the unauthorized buildings at their ward level. However, the illegal constructions could not be stopped due to shortage of staff. He said that Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has also given instructions for immediate recruitment of the staff and the same is in process. (INN)
