GHMC was making arrangements for mobilization of sapling for next Harith Haram program to be taken up in the State.
GHMC Commissioner Dr B. Janardhan Reddy has made surprise visit to various educational institutions under Rajendranagar circle to inspect trees planted in the institutions earlier. The Commissioner inspected the premises of Professor Jayashanker Agriculture University and enquired about the conditions of the plants there. The Commissioner said the GHMC has planted some two lakh saplings in Haritha Haram program in GHMC areas for which the Commissioner made surprise inspection today at the Rajendranagar circle areas.
GHMC, HMDA, Forest Departments and other NGOS with the help of various Government departments have taken up Harithaharam programme and planted more than 80 lakhs saplings not only planting part but GHMC is very keen in maintenance of these plants in a proper manner said the Commissioner.
The Commissioner said that the GHMC is also planning to provide tree gaurds to safe guard the plants without any obstruction from animals etc., and also making all necessary arrangements for watering these plants every day. Keeping in view of the Harithaharam programme in the coming year the GHMC is making all necessary arrangements well in advance. Later On the Commissioner, GHMC held a review with regard to Urban Community Development activities in the South Zone.
Bhaskara Chary, Additional Commissioner, (UCD), Srinivas Reddy, Zonal Commissioner, South Zone, Director, Urban Biodiversity and senior officers are attended the visits of the Commissioner. (NSS)
