GHMC polls: TPCC resents GO

Taking a serious exception to the amendment of Municipalities Act, TPCC has alleged that the Act was unilateral and the TRS government took this decision due to fear of defeat in the ensuing GHMC elections.

Speaking to the media at Gandhi Bhavan here on Tuesday, TPCC official spokespersons B Kamalakar Rao and G Niranjan alleged that the TRS government issued GO amending the GHMC law overnight that the election process would be completed within 15 days. They questioned the State government what prompted them to complete the GHMC election process within 15 days. He also said the State government has to discuss the issue if it wanted to amend the law and it was not proper to amend the law as it wished. “It shows that the TRS government was afraid of GHMC elections”, they alleged.

They also reminded that no political party has raised this issue in any all-party meetings held on December 5 and December 29. They demanded that the State government conduct the election as per the schedule abolishing the G.O. issued now. (NSS)
