GHMC Polls: 3850 in fray as 189 aspiratns fail scrutiny

The nomination papers submitted by as many 189 aspirants for the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) elections have been rejected.

Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, GHMC Additional Commissioner Kundar Sharma said a total of 4039 nominations were received from 150 wards. Of them, 189 have been rejected due to various reasons. Therefore, a total of 3,850 candidates are in fray for the GHMC polls. Candidates whose nomination has been rejected including TRS candidate of Saroornagar, candidate of Other Registered Parties from Akbar Bagh, TDP candidate from Akbar Bagh and other candidates in Uppuguda, Kondapur and Gachibowli.

Those who are in the fray including BSP – 106; BJP – 426; CPI – 29; CPM – 41; INC – 659; MIM – 85; TRS – 839; TDP – 658; YSRCP – 3; Lok Satta – 47; Other Registered Parties – 71 and Independents – 886. He said that the real picture would emerge after the end of withdrawal of nominations on January 21. He said that the candidates could submit their B-Forms by 3 PM on January 21.

He also informed that the cash of Rs. 1.93 lakh has been seized from a person Harish Chander Reddy in Rajender Nagar circle. He said that the GHMC would issue letters to 5 lakh students seeking their parents’ participation in the election to increase polling percentage. (INN)
