GHMC plants trees on old city roads

Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation is planning to cover 9 kilometer stretch with greenery in old city of Hyderabad. GHMC has identified Chandrayangutta, Shah Ali Banda, Mir Aalam Mandi, Darushshifa and other areas to convert main roads into a green curtain.

Zonal Commissioner GHMC South Zone Mr. Balasubramaniam Reddy told that the measures are taken to reduce environmental pollution in the city. In this programme the existing compound walls along the main roads will be converted into a green curtain to increase the aesthetic look, curb open urination menace and also to avoid wall writings, debris dumping due to which the city is looking very shabby.

The GHMC is planting ground covers, shrubs and trees along the compound walls in three levels to cover the entire compound wall.
