Hyderabad: Crossing the road will no more be a strenuous affair for pedestrians on Mehdipatnam road as Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) standing Committee has given nod to the proposal for the construction of a new subway between pillars 13 and 14 of PV Narasimha Rao (PVNR) Elevated Expressway near the busy Rythu Bazar, Mehdipatnam Road. The proposal came after it was found that a pedestrian skywalk was not feasible due to the PVNR expressway. Hopefully the new subway will make life easier for the thousands of pedestrians who face a tough time crossing the congested Mehdipatnam road.
The subway or underground road has become a need-of-the-hour as motorists are also not willing to halt even for a second to allow pedestrian crossing, leading to many accidents involving pedestrians. A subway at the place would provide a hassle-free movement of pedestrians.
The subway is estimated to come up at a cost of R. 1.50 crore to Rs. 2 crore.
