Hyderabad: GHMC has made planting of trees mandatory for all buildings in the city. In a GO issued on September 1, GHMC has made an amendment to the existing building rules. Violation of this rule may lead to withholding of the building permit.
As per the order, all residential buildings with a plinth area of 100 sq mts or higher, should have at least one tree. Two trees must for residential plots measuring 101-200 sq mts, five for 201-300 sq mts, 10 for 301 sq mts & above for residential plots.
Similarly, for commercial buildings with a plinth area of 200 sq mts, two trees have to be planted. Similarly, for those measuring 201-500 sq metres – four trees, 501-1000 sq meters – six trees, above 1001 sq metres – six plus an additional two trees for every 100 sq metres.
