The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation is mulling to make rainwater harvesting pits compulsory for all houses on 100 square metres. GHMC Commissioner Dr. B Janardhan Reddy held a review meeting with senior officials on Saturday to discuss the proposal. He said a proposal was being sent to the State Government to constitute a committee to study the proposal. He said that the State Government has the powers to issue orders making rainwater harvesting pits compulsory in all houses. The corporation would take up construction of 100 rain harvesting pits in each zone and two-year-old pits would be repaired.
