HMC Mayor Mohammed Majid Hussain said that “Drive and Own Your Vehicle” is another innovative scheme taken up by the GHMC in order to make the youth of GHMC to be self sustainable.
Two years ago such initiatives could not be taken up due to financial crisis, but as on today, the GHMC is in a position to take up unique schemes as the revenues of GHMC were increased without increasing a single pie of tax but by constant efforts of all parts of GHMC as a family. He said that the projects that are being taken up by the GHMC no other Corporation in the Country could not even think of. On Monday, the GHMC handed over 21 vehicles to the unemployed youth under the scheme ‘Drive and Own Your Vehicle’, with which nearly 21 families will be getting their livelihood and the drivers till now will become owners of the vehicle very soon.
Deputy Mayor G Rajkumar praised the Mayor and Commissioner for taking up such a good initiative for helping unemployed youth.
GHMC Commissioner Somesh Kumar said that 21 vehicles were handed over to the unemployed youth today and the vehicle is costing around Rs. 7 lakhs out of which 15% of the amount must be contributed by the beneficiaries and for the remaining 85% of the amount GHMC will assist in getting loan provision. He has assured that for 15% of the beneficiary contribution necessary subsidies will be availed from the corporations as per the castes of the individual beneficiaries.
The Commissioner appreciated the services of K. Siva Parvathi, Additional Commissioner (UCD) and the entire team of UCD wing. He has given a pat to Bikram Satapathy, Corporate Sales Manager, Maruti Suzuki as he has become one of the family member of the GHMC and appreciated his tremendous efforts of night and day in making this programme a grand success.
Somesh Kumar said that previously UCD wing of GHMC use to limit to bank linkage schemes only for up liftment of women and GHMC could not take up other innovative schemes to the youth due to financial crisis. The Commissioner said now the GHMC is in a position to take up more and more unique schemes to help all the sections of people for their convenience and opined that this is only inception station and GHMC will reach much more and more heights, coming up with various unique schemes.
Floor Leaders Diddi Rambabu, Singireddy Srinivas Reddy, Bangari Prakash, Omkar Nath, Regional General Manager of Maruti Suzuki Pvt.Ltd. Anil Kothari, Managing Director of Green Cabs, Central Zone Commissioner D Ronald Rose and other senior officials of GHMC have participated in the programme. (INN)
