As part of new e-Governance initiative, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) is planning to launch Telangana Sishu Aadhar Project in 25 identified hospitals from this month end where for new born babies will be issued Aadhar Card, Birth Certificate and Birth Defect Registration at hospital level at free of cost.
In this context, GHMC Additional Commissioner (IT) Surendra Mohan held a special meeting with all the managements of private and government hospitals at the GHMC Head Office on Wednesday.
The Additional Commissioner (IT) stated that this system has already been implemented in Government Maternity Hospital at Petla Burj on pilot basis and it has been delivering good results. The management of the hospitals has to make their own infrastructure arrangements to issuing these certificates.
Through this first-of-its-kind initiative, the government aims to provide all the necessary certificates to new born child immediately after the birth and also push them to the digital locker. This is going to be a real “Government to Citizens” initiative where Government issues certificates to citizens the moment the baby is born.
Babies born in government hospitals will be Aadhar-enrolled and their birth certificate issued within seven days. This project will be implemented with the support of Health Department, GHMC, ITE&C, UIDAI RO – Telangana & CSC SPV. The birth defects registry is based on the birth certificate. Birth defects reported on the birth certificate and all other data elements from that data set are part of the birth defects registry.
The move would help in pushing the Aadhar/Birth Certificate/Defect Certificate into digital locker of the new born babies and also will help Health department to monitor delivery of all welfare and health-related benefits to an infant, tracking the child from birth to immunization to school admission. Besides, it will seek to serve as a data-base of children for timely and assured delivery of services, the GHMC officials said. (INN)
