The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) is planning to involve the residential welfare associations for the proper maintenance of roads and other developmental works in their respective colonies.
GHMC Commissioner and Special Officer is planning to sanction up to Rs 10 lakh to each of the association for maintenance of works like roads, open spaces, sanitation and beautification of their colonies.
Somesh Kumar said that the GHMC would give top priority to make Hyderabad a slum-free city. He said an action plan is being prepared to construct modernised houses with all basic minimum facilities in the slums as per the vision of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao.. The GHMC is also planning to provide livelihood for the poor by assigning them the various maintenance works in the colonies. The disabled persons too would be provided various types of jobs under the GHMC schemes.
The Corporation is also planning to introduce e-van scheme in near future to help the unemployed youth get better job opportunities.
The GHMC would also give priority to the nala works, street lights, sanitation and various civic related works. Steps are also being taken to improve the revenues of GHMC and 24 Supervisory Officers have already been appointed for the task. (INN)
