GHMC Commissioner Dr. B. Janardhan Reddy said that the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation has identified 85 accident prone areas in the city.
While interacting with the officials in the convergence meeting held at Secunderabad Cantonment Board on Saturday, the Commissioner urged the officials of Traffic Police, Roads & buildings, Cantonment Board and other related departments to take all precautionary measures on war footing basis. HMWSSB Managing Director Dana Kishore, Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Jithendera, Secunderabad Cantonment Board CEO Chandra Shekar, Ranga Reddy Collector Raghunandan Rao and senior officials of various departments have attended the convergence meeting.
Citing a recent accident that occurred on Bowenpally main road in which two people were killed, the Commissioner said that the GHMC has identified 85 such accident prone areas. He also requested the Traffic police officials to take up zebra markings, lane markings and remove 600 electrical poles which are on the roads obstructing traffic.
With regard to 2-bed room housing scheme, the GHMC Commissioner said that the people who are living in the identified slums must be vacated on priority and the housing scheme should to be taken up in a time bound manner. The works pertaining to JNNURM, Wambey and other schemes the works should be taken up immediately, he said. The tender process for construction of 4,000 2BHK houses in Ahmed Nagar has been completed and the construction would begin soon. (INN)
