GHMC to hold meeting with contesting candidates on May 14

District Election Officer and GHMC Commissioner Somesh Kumar has directed the Returning Officers to conduct final meeting with the contesting candidates on May 14th by duly explaining them about the counting procedures also about the working of PADU (Printer Cum Auxiliary Display Unit) which will be attached to the EVM control unit, as only PADU can facilitate printing of result with the help of printer, if required. He said that 422 PADU units is needed for Hyderabad District i.e., for 211 tables of Hyderabad Assembly Constituencies and 211 tables for Parliamentary constituencies totaling 422 units.

Somesh Kumar on Monday held a review meeting with all the Returning Officers, soon after completion of the Video Conference with Election Commission of India and specific instructions have been given to them for their effective role to play on the counting day. He said there will be one Observer for each counting Centre who will oversee the procedures of counting process and who will be signing on each and every round result before declaring the same.

The DEO said that each counting centre will be provided with separate room to the Observers and also one media centre where the media persons will be sitting to know the trends of the counting round wise for wide coverage of the results. He directed the Returning Officers to conduct a final meeting with the counting staff on 15th May at 2PM and also to distribute the Identity Cards on the same day for attending the counting on May 16th.
