Hyderabad, October 07: In view of the substantial damage caused by floods in the State, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has handed over Rs 1 crore to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF). Minister for Municipal Administration, Anam Ramanarayana Reddy handed over the cheque to Chief Minister K Rosaiah at Secretariat here on Tuesday.
Apart from the Corporation, the employees of GHMC also donated a day’s salary which would be about Rs 1 crore to the CMRF, GHMC Commissioner S P Singh said.
The GHMC also offered the services of officers and staff for maintenance of the Health and Sanitation wing and would send them to Kurnool and Mahaboobnagar districts. About 1,000 staffers have left for these two districts already for attending to sanitation works.
For Kurnool, the staff deputed include medical officers (2), assistant entomologists (2), sanitary supervisors (4), sanitary jawans (10), sanitary workers (500), two units of malaria fighting teams (each unit comprising 18 workers), seven sanitation vehicles, 10 fogging machines, 10 sprayers together with required sanitation equipment, disinfectants and chemicals.
As for Mahaboobnagar district, one medical officer, four sanitary supervisors, four sanitary jawans, 350 sanitary workers (350), one malaria team comprising 18 workers and machines have sent.
The workers will stay in the districts till the sanitation problem has cleared, GHMC officials said.
