The GHMC garbage shifting lorries were given a new look with decorations of radium stickers, side indicators, etc. The GHMC was using 10 types of vehicles to shift garbage from the twin cities. Due to lack of proper cleaning, they were looking like old vehicles.
Keeping this in view, the Municipal Administration and IT Minister KT Ramarao and GHMC Mayor B Rammohan have directed the officials concerned to make them brand new by coloring them. For the last two days, the officials concerned completed branding 500 vehicles.
It may be recalled that four persons were killed in an accident that took place at Kharkana, Secunderabad recently, in which GHMC garbage shifting rented vehicle hit the two wheeler. The vehicle has no side indicator radium sticker and it has no painting indicating that it was a hired one. Observing all these issues, Ramarao, who had shifted the victims from the accident spot while coming from Armoor that day, directed the officials to complete the branding work immediately. The officials completed the branding work to garbage shifting vehicles, sweeping machines, JCBs, veterinary vehicles. The officials also completed the work of pasting radium stickers, tail lamp blinkers, GHMC brand stickers to 25 ton garbage carriers, mini tippers, dumper placers, sweeping machines, bobcots JCBs, water tankers, veterinary vehicles. Now the vehicles were looking new and were being easily identified even in nights as radium stickers were glowing like anything.
On the other hand, the GHMC is extending training to the garbage shifting vehicle drivers and light weight motor vehicle drivers on public safety issues, bad results due to drunken drive and on traffic rules. About 1000 drivers were taking training at Goshamahal Traffic Training Institute for the last two days. (NSS)
