Gobbling up of valuable Waqf land by the governments, endowed by philanthropists and generous donors for the welfare of Muslim community is continued unrelentingly. Waqf properties have become easy prey for government and land grabbers.
Now the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation is eying at the ancient Masjid Husaini popularly known as Hari Masjid, located at road no 2 Banjara Hills, in the name of road widening. The bigoted officials of the department plan to acquire at least 750 sqyd land of the masjid and lay road on the acquired land. To accomplish their plan they claim that the said masjid is constructed on government land. However they should know that the masjid is not only built on waqf land but is recorded in the waqf gazette as well.
It has been learnt that chief minister Mr. N Kiran Kumar Reddy has also given green signal to acquire Masjid Husaini land for road widening. The officials of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation and town planning should know that the Masjid Hussaini (Hari Masjid) was built in 1946 by Nawab Kazim Yar Jung Bahadur, the personal secretary of 7th Nizam Nawab Mir Osman Ali Khan Bahadur, in the memory of his late son Mohammed Husaini Pasha, who died in London.
