GHMC extends Rs 273 crore loan to Self-Help Groups

GHMC Commissioner Dr B Janardhan Reddy has stated that the Corporation extended Rs 273-crore assistance to the Self Help Groups in Hyderabad City exceeding its target of Rs 248 crore for the year 2016-17.

In a pressnote here, the Commissioner revealed that the GHMC’s UCD wing has extended Rs 273 crore with 110 % interest-free loans to the 8,824 women groups and created history in the country. He also informed that the women groups were ahead in social service. The women groups were controlling excess expenditure in marriages and were seeing that their children were going to schools. He also said the GHMC will utilize the services of the women groups in selling LED lights at low price to over 20 lakh houses. (NSS)
