Hyderabad: GHMC Commissioner Dr. B. Janardhan Reddy said that the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation proposed to establish 33 health centres in its limits under National Urban Health Mission (NUHM).
The Commissioner, along with Additional Commissioners Gourav Uppal and Bhaskara Chary, held a review meeting on Thursday with the NUHM Project Director Dr. Jyothi Budda Prakash, to discuss the proposal. The proposed centres will be established in private buildings wherein citizens would be extended basic medical facilities. These centres will be managed by the Urban Community Development in coordination with MEPMA Department. This project will be tied up with Urban Primary Centres for funding purpose.
Janardhan Reddy said that the GHMC was having nine maternity hospitals in its limits and the corporation would take up their modernization in a phase manner. He said that the GHMC was planning to construct 13 new buildings for Urban Health Centres at a cost of Rs. 25 lakh each. An amount of Rs. 10 lakh each would be provided to maintain another 62 UPHCs.
