Hyderabad: Govt. of TS is actively considering holding GHMC Elections one year ahead of its schedule. Govt. accelerated the process of enacting a new municipal act. The ban on participating in elections for the candidates who have more than two children has been lifted.
Govt. intends to hold elections early so that it could benefit the ruling party. Govt. and its ally was facing difficulties in selecting suitable candidates for implementing 50% reservations for women and persons having more than two children. Hence, these provisions of the act have been scrapped. TS govt. wants to cash in on the results of municipal elections for its benefit in the next general elections.
