Following re-poll in all 36 polling stations of Puranapul ward, the State Election Commission has rescheduled the timing for counting of votes for remaining 149 divisions on Friday.
The counting will begin at 3 PM on Friday at 24 counting centres where elaborate arrangements have been made. One counting Supervisor, one Counting Assistant and Additional Counting Supervisor for each counting table have been deployed. The counting process will be held under the directions of the election observers and it will be video-graphed.
Addressing a press conference on Thursday, GHMC Election Authority Dr. B. Janardhan Reddy informed that during the first half an hour postal ballot would be taken up at a separate table.
A total of 1674 tables have been arranged while 5,626 counting staff is being deployed. There will be 827 rounds of counting.
Arrangements have been made for uninterrupted power supply in all the counting centres. Separate generators have also been arranged in case of power shut.
Dr. Janardhan Reddy said that results of 26 wards could be expected after two hours. Entire counting process is likely to be completed in total 4 hours. The counting of votes for Puranapul ward will be taken up after completion of counting for other wards. He said results/trends of counting should not be published or telecast before 5 PM in view of re-polling in Puranapul ward. (INN)
