The much-awaited GHMC elections are likely to be held in January as the officials concerned are preparing to release a notification in this regard. State Election Commissioner Nagi Reddy today said a notification is expected in two to three days for the GHMC elections.
Speaking to mediapersons here on Monday, Nagi Reddy said the elections will be held under the purview of GHMC Commissioner Dr Janardhan Reddy. Related notification will be issued in two to three days and elections will be conducted as per High Court directive, he said. The GHMC Commissioner will be the Election Authority and will use about 80,000 police personnel for security, Nagi Reddy said, adding that voters can ascertain polling stations through a special App. Final list of voters and identification of polling stations are ready for the elections. He also said arrangements are being made for smooth and fair conduct of the polling in all the wards. (NSS)
