Hyderabad: As part of the ongoing Swachh Hyderabad program, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) is planning to develop about 15 various theme parks and 47 urban theme parks with a budget of Rs. 120 Crores, informed GHMC Mayor Bonthu Rammohan here on Friday.
In this connection, the Mayor held a meeting with Commissioner Dana Kishore, Zonal Commissioner Srinivas Reddy, Additional Commissioner Krishna, Chief Engineer Suresh and the consultant members of Theme parks designing.
No major parks were developed after present parks Indira Park, Vengala Park, Krishnakanth Park and Cha Cha Nehru Park which were built way long back, said the Mayor.
In order to provide a better quality of life, living space, the GHMC is identifying open places of more than 1 acre of the area to develop theme parks, the Mayor added. So far, about 47 open spaces have been identified and they will be developed as Theme Parks with Rs.120 Crores.
The Theme Parks include at least 12 Swachh Theme Parks with 2 parks in each of 6 Zones which projects the Swachh activities like, separation of dry and wet waste, compost plant, water harvesting pits, maintenance of transfer station, plastic re-cycling, dump yard capping and activities of Saaf Hyderabad- Shaandar Hyderabad, and these should be developed within a period 4 months, said the Mayor to the Urban bio-diversity officials.
Apart from these parks other parks like Solid Waste Management, Traffic-related, rainwater harvesting, Children parks, Telangana culture, Universal Theme parks, Science Park, rain forest, adventure parks theme parks, etc.
Since there is no special park for children, preference will be given to develop children parks in out of proposed development of 47 theme parks in the city, the Mayor said.
Further, the Mayor said that while constructing these Theme Parks, special care would be taken around the park for harvesting rainwater and an underground tank would be built for a store of water.
Speaking on the occasion, the GHMC Commissioner instructed the officials to prepare estimates and submit the proposals so as to get a nod in the ensuing General Body meeting.
The treated water from STP plant nearby park will be used for maintenance of park and steps to be taken to visit school children to the theme parks. Commissioner said requests were received from IT companies to make theme park with e-waste, said the Commissioner.
