GHMC to demolish 79 unauthorised bus shelters

Hyderabad, March 28: The GHMC will be removing 79 unauthorised bus shelters built by agencies for advertisement purposes and not at all useful for commuters, in 10 days.

Additional Commissioner (Development Planning) K. Dhananjaya Reddy informed that already four such shelters were demolished at KBR Park, Banjara Hills (Road No.1), Opposite Cinemax and GVK Mall,

In a separate development, Mayor B. Kartika Reddy opened ‘Mahila Bhavans’ in Vijaynagar Colony, Gunfoundry and Bagh Lingampally. She advised women group members to utilise municipal infrastructure to uplift their socio-economic status.

Formation of neighbourhood communities, SHGs, awareness about the need to education, health, family welfare, training, skill development and enhancement of livelihood opportunities were some of the activities that could be taken up at the ‘bhavans’. These would be provided with computers, office furniture, electricity, tailoring & embroidery machines, library, family counselling and recreation facilities.

The Mayor also called upon senior officials to prepare and file counter petitions to deal with pending cases with regard to ads, open spaces, encroachments, town planning, property tax, etc.
