GHMC to cover all potholes in 45 days

Giving much relief to commuters in Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation limits, the civic body has decided to cover up all potholes across the entire 625-sq km area under its jurisdiction without bias in the next 45 days.

“The technical evaluation of the bids is currently going on. We are trying to complete the process in the next two weeks before going ahead with the allotment of tender process,” said GHMC chief engineer (CE) K Suresh Kumar. The chief engineer further said that they were keen on experimenting with the recycling and cold patch technologies given their rate of success.
Kumar said with this technology we aimed at repairing potholes in 20 minutes time with minimum traffic disruption and no wastage or excavation while ensuring smooth and seamless permanent patch.

However, the initiative was discontinued after the ‘Road Doctor’ met with an accident on Road no.1 Banjara Hills forcing the officials to rely on the conventional method of pothole filling using hot patch technology.
