The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation, in coordination with Yashoda Hospitals, conducted a medical checkup camp for the sanitation drivers and workers at Khairtabad Transfer Station here on Monday.
Addressing the medical camp, GHM Commissioner and Special Officer Dr. B. Janardhan Reddy assured that the corporation would take all measures to ensure proper health of all sanitation workers. He informed that the GHMC will conduct medical camps in all circles for sanitation workers on 14th, 15th and 19th of December wherein around 975 drivers and 1675 sanitation workers will be checked. Medical camp will be held on Tuesday at Kavadiguda while another camp will be held at Malakpet on 19th December.
The Commissioner said that this type of medical checkups, if taken up in a Corporate Hospital, would cost around Rs. 10,000. However, the GHMC is conducted these camps at free of cost. He instructed all the workers those who have crossed 45 years of age to take up medical checkups without fail.
The Commissioner said that all the workers of GHMC must be covered under Prime Minister’s Insurance Scheme where one has to pay Rs. 12/- per year to get Rs. 2 lakh benefit. (INN)
