Commissioner GHMC Mr. Somesh Kumar visited the historical Makkah Masjid on the occasion of Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi and over saw the arrangements. He visited the masjid on 11th of Rabi-ul-Awwal in the evening along with his wife and examined the masjid for more than an hour.
He was astonished to see the vast front yard, cistern, lofty minarets, beautiful arches and chandeliers hanging the roof of the masjid. Sitting on the slab bench, he had his photograph taken along with his wife.
Somesh Kumar met Makkah Masjid superintendent Mr. Mohammed Abdul Nayeem and sough information regarding the historical masjid. He was highly impressed by the chandeliers and the clock of Asifjahi era. It must be noted that Makkah Masjid was illuminated on the occasion Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi by GHMC.
Later talking to special correspondent Mr. Somesh Kumar told that he and his wife were highly impressed with the architecture of the masjid. Answering a question he told that he will first resolve the problem of toilets in the masjid. He also agreed to think about creating an entrance from Panchmohalla side however he will talk to police commissioner Hyderabad and public representatives regarding this. He was told that tourist and local visitors use toilets of the masjid as there is no Sulabh complex while the walls and doors of masjid toilets are quite precarious. On this Mr. Somesh Kumar said Municipal Corporation will soon find solution for this.
