GHMC Commissioner Dr B. Janardhan Reddy has thanked the officials of UCD, Electrical wing and officials of ESSL group for successful implementation of the Ujala scheme in the East Zone. In this connection, a review meeting was held at GHMC Head Office today.
The GHMC, in coordination with the Government of India Organization Energy Efficiency Services Limited, as an energy saving effort under Ujala Scheme, providing LED bulbs tube lights, fans etc., at the doorstep of the households with subsidy rates for sale with the help of Self Help Group women with which the households will be benefited to reduce their power bills up to the extent of 50% with more lighting effects duly benefiting the Self Help Group Women to fetch up money by selling this products and also helping the Nation by saving energy said
The Commissioner said as a pilot project this innovative scheme has been taken up in East zone where about 50,000 LED bulbs provided to the households in a span of 5 days. This is the first innovative scheme taken up in Hyderabad by deriving good results. This scheme is likely to be implement in all the 30 circles deploying 100 Community Resource Persons duly coordinating with Self Help Group women where the women can easily earn about Rs. 25,000/- per week basing on their efforts.
The GHMC is deploying one community Development Officer, Assistant Engineer (Electrical) and one senior official to coordinate with 100 Community Resource Persons who will in turn help the Self Help groups to reach the target of one crore LED bulbs to the citizens through this innovative scheme.
