Hyderabad: In the wake of the weather forecast of rains in the city for the next four days, GHMC Commissioner, Dr. B. Janardhan Reddy issued orders to the staff of Town planning to ensure to dismantle old buildings which are likely to collapse. He also instructed them to shift the residents of such buildings to safer places. All those persons who are leaving near old compound walls should also be shifted.
He appealed to the people to cooperate with Municipal Authorities. He told that during the incessant rains a few days back, fatal accidents took place in Musheerabad and Ramanthapur. He told that GHMC feels its responsibility to prevent deaths of citizens of Hyderabad. He informed that the process of identification of old buildings has already been completed. He instructed the staff of town planning to stop digging of cellars. If prior permission has already been sought for digging cellars, they should be stopped forthwith in view of the rain forecast in this week. This is essential to prevent any unpleasant incident. The emergency squad of GHMC has also been alerted.
