GHMC Commissioner M T Krishna Babu held a meeting with Greater Hyderabad Municipal Employees Union President U Gopal along with senior officials in his chambers here on Saturday.
The GHMC Commissioner interacted with the recognized Union President and the representatives had a patient hearing of their grievances and assured them he will be requesting the Minister for Municipal Administration to hold a meeting with regard to various issues of the union pertaining to employees of GHMC along with the union representatives and officials of GHMC very soon.
The issues that were discussed during the meeting include enhancement of wages to outsourcing personnel, on the grounds of other metropolitan cities additional HRA to the outsource personnel as being given to the regular employees; Variable D.A to the outsourcing personnel based on the wholesale price index, on the lines of workers covered under labour rules and weightage to the services rendered by the contract workers on the lines of APCPDCL as per the Hon’ble Supreme Court orders.
The Commissioner opined that the internal meetings with regard to issues of unions be conducted every 3rd Saturday of the month rather than meeting once in three months with the union leaders so that there will not be any delay to solve the issues.
The Union representatives pointed out that providing of masks, gloves and other materials to the sweepers are not being provided so far for which the Commissioner directed the officials to expedite the issue at the earliest. Responding to the problems pertaining to maintenance of toilets, drinking water arrangements through dispensers, the Commissioner directed the concerned officials to provide water dispensers at Circle Offices as being provided in the Head Office.
Additional Commissioners P Siva Parvathi, L Vandan Kumar and Ramnarayan Reddy and other senior officials attended the meeting. (INN)
