GHMC Commissioner assures help for Aasara centres

Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Commissioner said that he would instruct all the Deputy Municipal Commissioners to make community halls available for Day Care Centres by duly coordinating with the local Corporator.

The Commissioner held a review meeting on the activities of Aasara along with Additional Commissioner (Urban Community Development), Project Director (Aasara), Committee Members and Members of Aasara. Responding to the request of Senior Citizens, the Commissioner said that there was every need to increase the number of Day Care Centres depending on the population of that area.

The Commissioner has informed that the GHMC was ready to increase the amount for procurement of equipment, needed by Senior Citizens in Day Care Centres, from Rs 50,000 to Rs 1,00,000, depending on the requirements of the Senior Citizens. He has informed that the powers for procurement of play equipment and others would be decentralized to the Committee Members and instructed them to follow the procedure strictly, by calling quotations. He has also informed that LCD’s will be provided for Day Care Centres, where there is no television facility.

The Commissioner has informed that GHMC was ready to pay Rs 4,000 for the person who is employed to maintain the Day Care Centre as it is given for the maintenance of colony parks and instructed them to appoint a retired employee for that purpose.

On the request of the Members of Aasara, the Commissioner has advised them to put up a proposal for providing diagnostic centre at Day Care Centre by duly coordinating with the Additional Commissioner (UCD). He also directed them to put up a proposal for Aasara Help Line Number.

Responding to the queries of Senior Citizens, the Commissioner said that free parking for Senior Citizens was not given at any part of the World and GHMC could only provide priority parking and free entry in to the parks, he added.

Additional Commissioner (UCD) CN Raghu Prasad, Aasara Project Director Mamata Bhai, Aasara Committee Vice-President U Gopal Rao, General Secretary MA Sattar Khan and other members also participated in the meeting.
