GHMC Commissioner Dr. B. Janardhan Reddy on Friday pulled up senior officials, especially the Deputy Commissioner and Assistant Medical Officers, for non-removal of vulnerable garbage points.
During a tele-conference with the senior officials, the GHMC chief said that as part of 100 Days Action Plan, it was decided to remove 1116 open garbage points from city the city. But so far, only 923 points have been removed. Non-removal of remaining 193 garbage points shows the negligence of the officials, he said.
In West Zone, of 362 garbage points, 354 have completely removed and only 8 are remaining. There were 171 open garbage points in Central Zone. Of them, only 95 have been removed and remaining 76 points needs to be removed. Similarly, of 179 open garbage points in East Zone, 163 were removed while 99 out of 171 points have been removed in South zone.
Out of 24 circles in the GHMC limits, vulnerable garbage points have been completely removed in 7 circles.
The GHMC Commissioner said that the garbage, which is being collected from the households, should be transported through auto trolleys to the transfer stations and it should not be dumped on the roads. The Sanitary Field Assistants and Sanitary Jawans are regularly coordinating with the auto trolleys workers on this. (INN)
