GHMC Commissioner Somesh Kumar has informed that the Laxmi Nagar junction in between PVNR Pillar No. 67, 68 would be improved for better traffic mobility at junction and also to reduce possible traffic accidents and to widen the junction duly opening the another vent under the flyover in between Pillar No. 68 and 69 and also removing obstructing islands, high mast lamps, police outpost and providing pedestrian refuge islands for safe pedestrian crossing for the convenience of the citizens.
The Commissioner and senior officials of the GHMC and City Police visited Laxmi Nagar, Towlichowki flyover, Mehdipatnam Rythu Bazar and Humayun Nagar police Station. The Commissioner has approved Rs. 20 Lakhs for taking up of said works and completes the works immediately duly calling short tenders.
The Commissioner along with the team visited the Tolichowki flyover ongoing works at Toli Chowki X roads. He has taken special interest in the flyover work and observed the tardy pace of work done by the contractor, which is causing inconvenience to the road users on account of blocking of road on one side. He instructed the GHMC authorities to expedite the progress of work simultaneously on both sides of flyover and also further instructed to make open the blocked road immediately and restore the traffic duly repairing road within 10 days. He also instructed the water board officials to complete their pipe line work immediately to remove traffic hassles.
Later, Somesh Kumar along with Nampally MLA Mohd. Virasat Rasool Khan visited Mehdipatnam Rythu Bazar area and also at Humayun Nagar PS where the traffic movement is a nightmare to the motorists, travelers etc., every day. The officials observed irregular location of city bus bays opp. Rythu Bazar and also encroachment of vendors, hawkers in the bus bays premises opp Rythu Bazar. The officials also observed the traffic movement in between Pillar No. 3 & 4 and obstructions caused to the traffic on main road coming from Masab Tank.
The officials have explained the Commissioner the problems causing and suggested for opening of another vent in between Pillar No. 4 & 5 for better U turn while retaining U turn at Pillar No. 3 & 4 and also opening of another vent at Pillar No. 13 & 14 duly providing with a new signal by completely making rotary movement to avoid criss-cross of traffic.
The Commissioner has instructed to remove the existing irregular bus bays opp Rythu Bazar and removal of median, police outpost etc., for better movement of city buses etc. The officials have proposed for construction of new modern bus shelters with new bus bays along the boundary of Rythu Bazar duly restricting the Hawkers, Vendors into the bus bay areas. The team of officials also identified need of repairs to the road at the junctions coming from Meraj café to Pillar No. 13-14 and also at Humayun Nagar PS. The Commissioner, GHMC have sanctioned the works to the tune of about Rs 50 lakhs and instructed the officials to start the work immediately duly floating short tenders.
Lastly, the Commissioner along with the team have also visited at Golconda Apartments down of SD Hospital for feasibility and providing of median opening in the stretch of SD Hospital and Masab Tank to facilitate U turn by small vehicles to avoid wrong routes by them. The officials have made note of about possible cause of accidents on account of median opening and finally opined to open for trial purpose for short days with restricted hours under guard of traffic police during day times.
