Observing that the desilting works are going on a slow pace, GHMC Commissioner Somesh Kumar has directed the officials to expedite the works on priority.
The Commissioner directed the Chief Engineer and Superintending Engineers to deploy more labour and machinery in shift basis and also to provide chain link mesh wherever the need is there and the works to be completed by the end of this month i.e., prior to onset of the monsoon. He directed that Superintending Engineer, Lakes and GHMC Engineering officials to take necessary action immediately for removing silt all along the surplus platform of Hussain Sagar to improve discharging capacity of the surplus weir so that the water level on off shore of tank is maintained the levels and problem and free of inundation. He has also directed the officials to take necessary steps for removal of encroachments which are obstructing the flow through surplus nala.
Somesh Kumar, Chief Engineer along with Superintending Engineering and concerned Executive Engineers have inspected various nalas in Central and South Zone on Tuesday. He observed that lot of encroachments were coming up in some of the nalas and directed the concerned officials to remove all the un authorized encroachments with the help of Town Planning officials immediately.
The Commissioner directed the Chief Engineer to construct the retaining walls and to provide chain link mesh all along the nalas wherever necessary to curb the menace of regular dumping. The Commissioner appeal the citizens to see that the garbage, debris and waste materials should not be thrown in nalas as there is a lot of waste is being dumped and further requested the citizens to cooperate with the GHMC to curb such menace.
Somesh Kumar interacted with the contractors and enquired about the men and machinery and dumping the removed silt near by the nalas must be lifted immediately as it may cause inconvenience to the passersby for which he has directed the contractors to deploy more labour and expedite the works on war footing basis.
The Commissioner directed the Deputy Commissioner, Circle-9 to remove the encroachments at Amberpet for which the Deputy Commissioner as per the directions of the Commissioner as removed the encroachments at Amberpet within three hours with the help of the Town Planning Officials. (INN)
