Hyderabad, April 18: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), which has decided to award Rs.15 lakh worth of works to five of the cleanest colonies, has invited Expression of Interest (EoI) from interested colony welfare associations to improve cleanliness and maintenance.
The performance of the resident/colony welfare associations will be evaluated by an independent evaluation agency and the ‘performance’ of the applicant colonies will be checked over a period of five months starting from May 1 to September 30. One colony in each of the five zones will be chosen for the award, said Mayor B. Kartika Reddy.
Appraisal
The EOI’s will be forwarded to the zonal commissioners concerned. The evaluation agency, to be identified from among a government agency or a non-governmental organisation or the Federation of Colony Associations by April 20, will be assessing the work of the colony associations and grading them. It will check the cleanliness upkeep on a monthly basis and the half-yearly performance appraisal will be done by October 31 and the award will be announced the next day – November 1, 2011.
Mr. Basha said the parameters for awards are cent per cent door-to-door garbage collection (20 marks), litter bins at all commercial establishments (20 marks), clean roads/bylanes/open spaces (20 marks), greenery, colony infrastructure like pathways, restrooms, lights (20 marks) and usage of plastic (-10 marks)
Colony associations can begin applying from Monday (April 18) till April 25 up to 5 p.m. during office hours through the Additional Commissioner (Health & Sanitation) S. Aleem Basha. Details can be obtained from the web site – www.ghmc.gov.in.
All the 48 hotels in the five, three, two and single star categories too will be checked by a special task force to be constituted soon. Inspections of the hotels premises will be carried out from May 1 to September 30 and evaluation will be done on cleanliness of surroundings (15 marks), results of food samples lifted (15 marks), drinking water quality (15 marks), maintenance of kitchen (15 marks), cleanliness of utensils etc., (15 marks), parking facilities (25 marks), statutory norms & other provisions, usage of plastics (- 10 marks).
Report
The evaluation report will be ready by October 15 and grading will be done between October 16 and 31. Announcement of grades will be on November 1, Mr. Basha added.
