GHMC Commissioner Somesh Kumar said that the corporation was taking steps to increase the collection of revenues, especially the Property Tax. Targets have been fixed for the collection staff for the year 2014-15.
The Commissioner held a review meeting with the GHMC Zonal Commissioners, Deputy Commissioners, Valuation Officers, Tax Inspectors, Bill Collectors and other collection staff at at Hari Hara Kala Bhavan on Thursday. He interacted with all the officials of the tax wing and instructed them to play a vital role in collecting the revenue for the financial year 2014-15. He said that last year GHMC has collected Rs 1000 Crores and this year, it is planning to further increase the collection.
Somesh Kumar appealed to the tax payers to pay their property tax in time and join hands with the GHMC in making Hyderabad a World Class City. He also appealed those who are having any tax related issues to make representations with the concerned Deputy Commissioners to sort out the issues to ensure that they pay their property tax without any problem. The GHMC has already started coordinating with various State and Central Government Departments to pay their property tax in time.
Briefing the media after the meeting, Somesh Kumar said that the Government of Telangana has sanctioned Rs. 25 crores for Haritha Haram and also sanctioned Rs. 250 crores for Slum Free City. He informed that the GHMC would be utilizing its own revenue resources for beautification and development of grave yards . At least two grave yards in each circle and all together 36 grave yards would be taken up for beautification and greenery in the coming few days.
Similarly, two lakes will be taken from each Circle for beautification. The GHMC is also concentrating on creating 1000 kilometer green curtain as the part of Haritha Haram to develop the greenery in the GHMC limits.
The Commissioner said that besides 250 kilometers of main roads, the inner roads would be improved with black topping and re-carpeting. (INN)
