Ghiyasuddin Babu Khan is doing yeomen service by awarding scholarships to poor students

Maulana Khalid Saifullah Rahmani said that if the Muslims organize Zakat donations properly, there won’t be any poor Muslim left out.

Maulana Khalid Saifullah Rahmani was addressing the annual meeting of Hyderabad Zakat and Charitable Truts and Federation for Economic and Education Development (FEED). He told that the role Mr. Ghiyasuddin Babu Khan is playing is showing Hyderabadis a new way and Hyderabad is showing a new way to the entire country. He told that to help the poor is the attribute of Prophet Mohammed (PBUH).

When the first verse of the Quran was revealed to Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) he came back home. He was shivering. His wife Hazrath Khadija consoled him by saying that he helps the poor and so Allah would bless him. Mr. Ghiyasuddin Babu Khan is also following the Sunnah of Prophet Mohammed (PBUH). At a time when education has become commercial and every act is performed with commercial interest. So long as there is no monetary benefit, one’s tongue won’t move, pen doesn’t write and steps won’t move forward. In such a situation, he and his associates go to far off places in villages in search of the poor and the needy and help them.

In every religion persuasions is made for alms giving, in Islam the term zakat has been used, the meaning of which is to make neat and clean. The purpose of it is that the individual gets pleasure and not pain. He told that at 38 places in the Quran, Zakat is mentioned along with Salaath (Prayer) Allah has categorized virtues.

On some, there is equal reward, one some other, the reward is 10 times and on others, it is 700 times. If a person intends to perform a good deed, the reward is one time. For offering prayer, the reward is five times and for those who spend money in the name of Allah, the reward is 700 times.

Maulana Khalid Saifullah Rahmani, in his speech explained the quantum of Zakat to be paid on various items.

Mr. Ghiyasuddin Babu Khan gave the details of the Trust. He told that it has completed 19 y ears of its functioning. Whatever good work the trust has performed, it is due to the cooperation of its volunteers and workers.

When the Govt. of A.P. started scholarship scheme, its budget has been reduced from Rs. 8 crore to Rs. 1.5 crore. He informed that Mr. Khaleel offered a sum of Rs. 2.25 crore and desired the Trust to extend its activities to 8 districts of Karnataka state also.

A sum of Rs. 2.27 was spent on awarding scholarships to the students belonging to Maharashtra state. A businessman from Mumbai has offered to pay the scholarship amounts in four districts of Maharashtra on his behalf. He told that the Trust started the programme of helping the young widows. So far, 3,200 widows were helped by the Trust and with the assistance from the trust, nine widows have started their new matrimonial lives.

Trust also started Iftaar foodgrains distribution programme. Mr. Babu Khan told that Trust has started Hyderabad Institute of Excellence Project. It needs Rs. 17 crore for the Ist phase and Rs. 13 crore for the second phase.

Speaking on this occasion Mr. Khaleel Ahmed, Executive Director, Shantha Biotech told that Mr. Ghiyasuddin Babu Khan is preparing leaders for the future. His efforts are laudable. He also acknowledged the contribution of Mr. Ghiyasuddin Babu Khan’s wife in his efforts. He said that in the Rs. 30 crore project everybody’s cooperation is essential. Mr. Jannath Hussain IAS (Rtd) Chief Information Commissioner also addressed the gathering.
