Hyderabad: GMR’s Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA), Hyderabad, has featured among the world’s Top 3 Airports for 7th year in a row in ACI ASQ ranking.
In its announcement of winners for Airport Service Quality (ASQ) Award, 2015, Airports Council International (ACI), declared Hyderabad Airport – operated and managed by GMR Hyderabad International Airport (GHIAL) – as 3rd Best Airport in the world, in 5-15 Million Passengers Per Annum (MPPA) Category. ACI ASQ is the world’s most renowned and premier passenger service benchmarking programme for airports globally.
Speaking on the occasion, SGK Kishore, CEO, GHIAL, said, “We are absolutely delighted that Hyderabad Airport has again featured among the World’s Top 3 Airports in ACI ASQ ranking in the category of 5-15 Million Passengers Per Annum. It is a moment of great pride for us since we have had the rare honour of being ranked among the Global Top 3 airports from the very first year of operations and this year’s award marks the 7th year in a row that we have won this recognition. We thank our passengers for keeping the faith in us by ranking us at this position. Being an internationally acclaimed recognition awarded on a global forum, the ACI ASQ award also enhances the visibility of the city of Hyderabad, furthering the ‘Brand Hyderabad’ initiative of Government of Telangana. This will also boost Hyderabad’s standing as a leading global destination for travel, tourism and investment.”
Further adding Kishore, said, “ACI’s ASQ recognition is a major achievement for an airport and its community, and the entire credit for this feat goes to our stakeholders, partners, concessionaires and employees who have consistently delivered a memorable and delightful experience to our passengers. This is also a testimony to our unique approach of bringing in all stakeholders together under the umbrella of our ‘One family – One mission’ initiative to work for the common objective of excellence in passenger service.”
The ACI Airport Service Quality (ASQ) programme is unique as the airport industry’s only global benchmarking programme measuring passenger satisfaction in real time while passengers are at the airport. ACI which carries out surveys at 300 airports around the world ranks the airports on the basis of airport service quality surveys which represent passenger feedback on 34 key service indicators. RGIA is known globally for its excellent passenger facilities and customer experience. The airport has well established systems and processes integrated with all stakeholders and this has enabled RGIA to achieve the common goal of ‘passenger delight’. Despite competition from much newer airports in the region, the airport continues to maintain its reputation for setting global benchmarks in airport service quality.
Angela Gittens, Director General, ACI World, said, “Airports’ increasing concentration on ensuring a stellar passenger experience is part of a larger trend. Airports have evolved into complex, customer focused businesses in their own right that in many cases are in competition with each other for passenger traffic. From duty free and restaurants to ambience, cleanliness, courtesy of staff, amenities, efficiency and more, air travelers are expecting big things from the airports through which they travel. More than anything, ASQ is a way for participants to measure the extent to which they deliver on these expectations.”
Hyderabad Airport is set to receive the award at the ASQ Awards Ceremony which is scheduled to take place during April 2016 as a part of the 2016 ACI Asia-Pacific Regional Assembly in Gold Coast, Australia, in the presence of leaders from the global airports fraternity. (INN)
