New Delhi: Railways has commissioned the 113-km-long Meerut-Saharanpur section on electric traction, thereby completing electrification work on the entire Ghaziabad-Meerut-Saharanpur rail route.
Earlier, the Ghaziabad-Meerut City section was commissioned on electric traction in December 2015.
The Meerut-Saharanpur route was commissioned on electric traction on March 12 and with this the electrification of the entire 161 kms route between Ghaziabad and Saharanpur was completed at an estimated cost of Rs 275 crore, according to railways.
Trains on electric locomotives now can run seamlessly from Delhi/Ghaziabad/Khurja towards Haridwar, Ambala, Jammu and Amritsar, it said.
