Police officers in Cyberabad who are supposed to take up the passport verification job were on Monday given tablets, so that the verification of Passports can be done only in 3 days.

Regional passport officer Ashwini Sattaru, along with Telangana IG Intelligence B Shivadhar Reddy and Cyberabad police commissioner CV Anand handed over around 70 tabs for doing the job expeditiously. It is expected to reduce the time taken for verification from 13 days to three days.

CV Anand said that against the all India average of 21 days for police verification, Cyberabad was doing the same job in 13 days which after the use of tabs has come down to three days.

Reginol passport officer Ashwini said that Hyderabad RPO has issued 6.95 lakh passports last year, now has set a target of 8 lakh passport for the current year. “An applicant cannot get away with hiding any information from police verification because of the technology available. I request all applicants to disclose all information at the time of verification,’’ she added.

Under the new system, passport data is forwarded to the verifying officer everyday. They would physically verify the applicants and submit reports online to the passport verification unit the same day.
