Warstein, September 07: The 19th annual balloon festival has kicked off in the German town of Warstein to mark Europe’s largest gathering of balloon enthusiasts.
Warstein, a small town in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia, plays host to more than 200 hot air balloons, from 13 nations taking part in the fair.
Balloon flights are planned twice each day during the festival at times when weather is at its calmest.
“More than 200 hot air balloons and airships with over 300 pilots are expected to take part in the festival until September 13,” said Hermann Loeser, CEO of Warsteiner International Montgolfiade,
The international event will attract at least 150,000 visitors; a prominent boost to the city’s tourism industry.
