Muzaffarpur, December 22: A Bihar court today summoned veteran JD(U) leader and Rajya Sabha member George Fernandes in a case involving violation of model code of conduct.
First Class Judicial Magistrate R K Bharti asked Fernandes to appear before him on February 17, 2010 to explain his position with respect to the chargsheet filed against him on June 20, 2009.
Bharati asked the Muzaffarpur District Magistrate to ensure that the order was delivered to Fernandes for compliance.
An FIR was registered against Fernandes on the charge of going in a convoy of vehicles without prior permission from the authorities at the time of filing his nomination as Independent from Muzaffarpur Parliamentary constituency in March this year.
