London, Sept. 12 : Condemning the government’s slow response to the refugee crisis in Syria and in other neighbouring countries, Benedict Cumberbatch has urged the people to donate money to refugees.
During his Hamlet performance in London, the 39-year-old actor spoke about the government’s slow efforts of helping refugees and appealed the audience to extend their support, the Guardian reports.
The Sherlock actor further stated “A parent only puts their child on a boat when the sea is safer than the land”, while quoting a poem of British Somali poet Warsan Shire.
Cumberbatch has given his speech on the release of a charity single entitled ‘Help Is Coming’, to raise funds for refugees fleeing Syria and other war zones. (ANI)
