The 48-hour general strike launched by the Central Industrial Trade Unions in protest against the Union government’s anti-worker and anti-employee policies continued on the second day on Thursday. Several workers and employees’ unions participated in the strike actively.
In Saifabad, the employees of the Reserve Bank of India boycotted duties on Thursday and staged a protest before the RBI office. In solidarity with the strike, the employees of the banks too abstained from duties and joined the protests. With this, all the banks remained closed for the second day.
In the Abids area here, the employees of the Department of Posts boycotted duties and launched protest before the main office. Similarly, the employees of the LIC of India opposite Secretariat staged dharna before the office.
Speaking on the occasion, All India Life Insurance Corporation Union general secretary Venugopal alleged that the Union government was weakening the public sector insurance industry and trying to woo the foreign investors. (NSS)
