Chief Electoral Officer Bhanwar Lal today said as many as 143 nominations for 17 MP seats and 1,103 nominations for 119 MLA seats were filed on Wednesday by 3 pm being the deadline for filing their nominations.
Addressing a media conference after opening a “Media Center” with computers to coordinate elections at Secretariat here, Bhanwar Lal said the number of nominations may increase by the evening. He said the elections will be held in 10 Telangana districts on April 30. While scrutiny of nominations will be taken up on April 10, the last date for withdrawals will be on April 12. Voters can exercise their franchise by showing any identity card besides EPIC and valuable ID cards. All arrangements were made for free and fair polling for 17 Lok Sabha and 119 Assembly constituencies from 7 am to 6 pm. Bhanwar Lal stated that police have so far seized Rs 89.18 crore, 69 kg gold, 289 kg silver, 3.11 lakh liters of liquor during their checkings across the State.
In the Seemandhra region, election notification will be released on April 12 and nominations will be accepted till April 19 as April 13, 14 and 18 are holidays. The elections will be conducted for 175 MLA seats and 25 MP seats on May 7 from 7 am to 7 pm in Andhra Pradesh, he added.
