Gehlot launches food security scheme for BPL families

Tonk (Rajasthan), May 10: Launching an ambitious food security scheme, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot today said the existing ration shops in the state would sell wheat for Rs two a kg per month to BPL families.

Existing 23,000 ration shops would be selling wheat at this rate to BPL families every month from 15 to 21 , Gehlot said at a meeting attended by hundreds of tribals at Gandhi Maidan here and announced that four thousand more ration shops will soon be set up across the state.

Promising total transparency in the public distribution system, he said the state government is dealing sternly with black marketeers, hoarders and those indulging in adulteration by taking legal action against them.
