Hyderabad: Telangana Assembly is likely to constitute Public Accounts Committee in a couple of days with Congress leader and former minister Dr J Geetha Reddy as chairperson.
According to sources, the Congress high command was favoring Geetha Reddy’s candidature as well as other senior members like T Jeevan Reddy. As others were not keen on accepting the post, the former minister and Dalit Geetha Reddy got support from the State and national parties. Besides, Geetha Reddy has blemish less record.
It is said AICC leader Digvijay Singh would take a decision in this regard and the ruling party has to accept the name suggested by the main Opposition party. In all likelihood, Geetha Reddy will head the PAC, Congress deputy floor leader T Jeevan Reddy said.
Interacting with scribes at Assembly Lobbies, Jeevan Reddy said he was reluctant to take the post besides being a senior in the party after the floor leader K Jana Reddy. In a related development, the Legislative Affairs Minister moved a motion to appoint PAC for the House. (NSS)
