Gauri Lankesh was murdered for ‘anti-Hindu’ views says Chargesheet

Bengaluru: The charge sheet in the brutal assassination of Gauri Lankesh, editor of ‘Gauri Lankesh Patrike’ says the staunch critic of right-wing Hindutva Politics has been assassinated for her ‘anti Hindu Views’.

The case is being probed by Karnataka’s Special Investigation Team. Gauri Lankesh was brutally shot dead outside her house in Bengaluru’s RR Nagar locality, Scroll reported.

According to the charge sheet filed by the Special Investigation team on May 30, “The accused were angry with her for speaking against Hindu dharma, Gods of Hindu dharma and insulting Hindu dharma,” The Special Investigation Team filed a 651-page charge sheet against the first accused in the case, K.T. Naveen Kumar.

The SIT said the first accused Kumar had procured the bullets to kill Gauri along with assisting the shooters and providing them all the required information in carrying out her assassination. The SIT, however, did not mention any organization’s involvement in the assassination.

Apart from first accused Kumar, four other accused believed to be Kumar’s associates have also been arrested. The four accused were also involved in conspiring the murder of Kannada writer KS Bhagwan.

The Police are currently interrogating the four accused. These accused were also been found to be linked with the right-wing group Sanatan Sanstha and its other organization Hindu Janajagruti Samiti. All the accused have been sent to Judicial custody on Wednesday.
