A Gas Turbine Symposium on Emerging trends and Innovations in Marine Gas Turbine Maintenance Technology was inaugurated here today by Vice Admiral Sunil Lanba, AVSM, Chief of Staff, Headquarters, Eastern Naval Command (ENC) in the Samudrika Naval auditorium.
The Symposium, being conducted by INS Eksila, is aimed at bringing about awareness of the latest technologies and contemporary research work in the field of operation and maintenance of Gas Turbine Aggregates that power frontline warships of Indian Navy. A compendium of papers, received for the symposium, was also released by the Chief Guest on the occasion. Several Delegates from leading manufacturers of Gas Turbines from acrross the world viz. M/s General Electric (GE) from US, M/s Rolls Royce from UK, M/s Zorya Mashproekt from Ukraine and Gas Turbine Research Establishment, Bangalore presented their papers. The symposium was also Participated by delegates from all three Naval Commands and the Integrated Headquarters of Ministry of Defence, New Delhi.
The discussions encompassed a wide spectrum of issues including introduction of state of the art technologies, innovations up-gradation of existing techniques/ technology and equipment towards achieving cost effective exploitation, as adoption of emerging trends and adapting to contemporary innovations in the industry are bound to enhance productivity and promote self-reliance. At the Seminar, Vice Admiral Lanba presented a 15000 HP Marine Gas Turbine to the Andhra University (AU) College of Engineering on behalf of the Indian Navy to enable imparting of practical training to its students.
