New Delhi, July 20: After accusing government of partisanship in the RIL-RNRL gas dispute, ADAG chief Anil Ambani has now brought the matter in Prime Minister’s notice by writing a letter.
As per a newspaper report, Anil in his letter dated July 15 has accused the Petroleum Ministry of being partisan and biased towards his brother Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL).
Anil is clearly upset with the government as it has filed a case in SC urging it to quash the June 15 Bombay High court Judgment directing RIL to honour its commitment and provide gas to RNRL as per the MOU between them. The government has further urged that the MOU should be treated as null and void; arguing that if gas is supplied to Dadri project, other industries in the country would suffer.
Anil, in his letter, has also reassured that Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group (ADAG) company Reliance Natural Resource Ltd (RNRL) is not claiming stake in the Krishna Godavari gas basin in Andhra Pradesh and that it is fully committed to provide uninterrupted gas supply to the users. RNRL has also restated its commitment to work in the national interest.
The hearing of the tripartite case would be heard in the Supreme Court today where government has also become a party.
Both Union Petroleum Minister Murli Deora and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YSR R Reddy had called the KG-D6 gas basin as a national property and refused to consider it as a property of Ambani brothers.
Reacting to RNRL’s claim RIL said that it is not seeking to influence petroleum ministry. They further refused to comment on the matter as it is subjudice.
