KAIRANA: The crucial Lok Sabha bypoll in Kairana in western Uttar Pradesh is all about ‘Ganna’ but BJP rather than concentrating on the main issues, raked up the portrait of Pakistan’s founder Muhammad Ali Jinnah that hung in Aligarh Muslim University to divide the farmers on basis of religion.
Speaking to ANI, RLD leader Jayant Chaudhary said the results have show that ‘Jinnah haara, ganna jeeta’ [Jinnah has lost, sugarcane (farmers) have won]. “We would like to thank all parties who supported us, thank Akhilesh ji, Mayawati ji, Rahul ji, Sonia ji, CPIM, AAP and others. Jinnah hara, Ganna jeeta,” he said on RLD leading the Kairana Lok Sabha bypolls.

The politically and communally sensitive Kairana seat had 16 lakh voters including 5.5 lakh Muslims, 2.5 lakh Dalit voters and 1.5 lakh Jats and winning Kairana is a matter of prestige for BJP.
Both the communities who lived peacefully for generations until the 2013 Muzaffarnagar riots in September that changed everything.
But, despite this, they sinking their differences and Jat-Muslim consolidation oust the saffron party.
The farmers, who are suffering since there been no payment by sugar mills after December are not at all bother about the religion or caste of the contesting candidate but the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is busy attempting to polarize them.
After a humiliating defeat in Gorakhpur and Phoolpur Lok Sabha by-elections, the loss of Kairana by-election is yet another major setback for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Uttar Pradesh.
The Kairana by-poll, which is the fourth Lok Sabha bye-election in the state since 2014.
The Kairana seat fell vacant after the the demise of BJP MP Hukum Singh died in February due to prolonged illness. the saffron party pitted his daughter Mriganka Singh as the party candidate against SP-RLD candidate Tabassum Hasan.
Interestingly, if Tabassum Hasan, a former lawmaker win, she will be the lone Muslim representative from UP in Lok Sabha as in 2014 Lok Sabha polls no Muslim candidate won from Uttar Pradesh.
